Maggi Smith-Dalton, singer and musician, independent scholar, historian, author, and educator, is a frequent lecturer on the integration of humanities and the arts and on American music and history. She has given lecture and performance programs at colleges and universities and in numerous professional-development courses for educators and teachers in all grade levels. With her husband, she has researched and presented numerous public history courses, such as their popular American History Thru Music program that combines live performance and cultural history, since the 1980s. The Daltons also enjoy an active concert career. She is founding president of the Salem History Society and cofounder and artistic director of the American History and Music Project at http://imhct.org. Maggi authored a prize-winning short story and has been a lifelong history, cultural, arts and feature writer for newspapers and magazines. Since 2006, she has written the history column "Naumkeag Notations"? as well as arts and culture feature articles for the Salem Gazette. Maggi produced a cable TV series and programmed and hosted musical theater, arts interviews and classical music shows for NPR, commercial, and community stations.
